Their Majesties drove up to nearly 0p. posite Stanhope gate, and then alighted, when a royal salute was fired by the artillery. The royal cortage proceeded towards the troops, who were formed in line, when the band struck up "God save the King.” .

The King accompanied by her Majesty, the Royal Princesses, the Duke of Wellington, Prince George of Cambridge, and a numerous stafl', passed and repassed the lines; they then took up their position in front, and the troops marched by in review order, after which the Guards formed themselves into a square, and her Majesty most graciously presented the regiment wrth the new standard, the men pre. senting arms. The troops then formed again in line, and marched by in open columns, with their new colors fl ing and band playing. At one o‘clock a roya salute was fired. On their departure their Majesties were greeted with the greatest enthusiasm.

Never did the victor of Warterloo witness a more devoted attachment and respect than were bestowed upon him this day. Three glo- rious cheers saluted the hero on his arrival at Apsley house.

The 61h Dragoons, or Carbineers.—This re- giment, which is at present stationed at Porto- bello barrack, was yesterday inspected by Lieutenant-General Sir Husse Vyvyan and Major-General Sir Edward glakeney, who seemed much pleased with the appearance of that gallant corps, and congratulated the offi- cers on their excellent discipline.

It is said to be in contemplation to reduce the second major and two companies in every regiment ofinfantry in the service.

The commission of the unfortunate Captain Markham of the 58th regiment, who fell in a duel with Colonel Macdonald, of the 9£d High- landers, has been given to an old Lieutenant ofthe 89th regiment, without purchase. Ca p- tain Campbell, of the 46th, has got the .Ma- jority in that regiment, vacant by the suicide of Major Thompson. Three cadets in the Roy— al Military College have just got commissions, two by purchase, one gratis.

We regret to state that the returns for the Quarter‘s Revenue, ending this day. will not be quite so favor- able as was anticipated some time ago although the de- ticiency is to be accounted for in a way which will show that there is no falling 03‘ in the prosperity. The returns will not be completed until late this evening, and as some alteration may take place in the course of the day. we cannot pledge ourselves for the entire cor- rectness of the subjoined statement ; it will not, how- ever, we believe, difl'er very materially from the re- turns which will be published to-morrow.

In the customs there will be a deficiency as compar- red with the corresponding quarter last year, of about 200.000L—Stamps, 50,000l.—Assessed Taxes. 100.0001. —.Post OlIice, 75.0001.-—Miscellaneous. 75,0002.—-ma- lung a total decrease of 460,000l.

In the Excise, however. there is. as we stated on Tuesday. an increase, which is now computed at 35,- 00tll. making the decrease for the quarter, 425,0001.

Itshould be observed with respect to the Customs. that in the corresponding quarter of the last ysar a con- siderable sum had been received for duty on Foreign Corn. The absence of a similar source of revenue. and the restrictions upon commerce caused by the Cho- lera, in the quarter just ending, will sufiiciently account for the present deficiency.

The apparent falling on“ in assessed taxes is easily accounted for. Owing to the abolition of the Receivers Generals, there has not yet been time to collect the arrears which will consequently fall into the ensuing quarter. The increase of the Exoiss would have been much larger. but for the repeal of the duty on candles.

In the corresponding Quarter of the last year. that du- ty produced 120,000l.; and, therefore, if it were still in existence, there would be an increase of upwards of 150,0001. on the Excise for the present Quarter.

M. Dupin set out yesterday for the department of the Nievre. but will, it is said, return to Paris in the course of a few days.

The accounts from Africa mention the death of King Bromley. This native King. it appears, was from the lirst hostile to the American ssttlement of Liberia, and never dissembled it to the last.

of the General Assembly of this Island, made and passed in the Eleventh year of the Reign of his late Majesty King George the Fourth, entitled “An Act for raising a fund by an Assessment on Land, for erecting a Govern- ment House and other Public Buildings within this Island." Ido hereby publicly notify the Owners, Proprietors, or Occupiers of Lands within this Island, for which the Annual As- sessment charged thereon by the said Act, of Two Shillings lawful money of this Island, for every hundred acres contained in the several Townships thereof, and in the several Islands belonging thereto, and the sum of Two Shil- lings for every Towu Lot, Pasture Lot, Com- mon Lot, and Water Lot, granted in the Town and Royalty of Charlotte~Town; and the sum of One Shilling and Four-pence for every Town Lot, Pasture Lot, Common Lot, and VVa- ter Lot, in the Towns and Royalties of George- Town and Prince Town, is payable, that, unless the Assessment for the current year shall be paid into my hands on or before the Seven- teenth day of February next, I shall on tbe last day of the next HilaryTerm, (1833) cause Pro- clamation to be made, of all such lands as shall then be in arrear, for non payment of the sums charged thereon, agreeably to the directions
