On the 20th of December last, after a long and painful illness of three mouths, Joho Melnnis, of Gallows Point, aged 89 years, a native of the sle of Barra, in Seutland, who emigrated to this Island in the year 1780 He Jeaves nine children and eighty-five grand-children to mourn his death.

At the residence of her son, in Upper Duke-st., Liverpool, on the 25th November list, Mrs. Angus McKettrick, relict of the late Mr.

ames MeKettriek, Mason, and youngest daughter of the late James MeNeill, Royal Oak, Duinfries. Her remains were conveyed tu the Family burial ground, old Church Yard, Dumfries.

At Cove Head, on the 14th ult., of Brain Fever, Catharine, daughter of the late Malcolm Siaw, of Brackley Point, aged 17 years. Her ead was peace.

AtFrench River, New London, on the 8th ult., Emanuel W. Pillman, ip the 10th year of his age.

At St. Peter’é Bay, on the 3d inst., Edward James, son of Mr. Edward Needham, aged 9 years.

It was announced to be under the editorial management of Mr. Cephas Barker, and is intended to be the ecclesiastical organ of the Bible Christians, while the editor proclaims his readiness to com- ment on political matters as they shall appear beneficial or injurious to the public weal. Tho present No. contains little more of original] matter than the introductory address decla- ratory of the principles on which the journal is to be conducted, and a brief record of the principal local events of the past month. It isa monthiy sheet of sixteen pages, well printed by Mr. John H. Macdonald, and is published at the low price of 5s. a year.

Carleton, N. B. County Jail was destroyed by fire on the morning of Dee. 16. The jailer and his family escxped ; the prisoners also escaped. The latter, the Carleton Sentinel says, were in much danger for some time during the contla- gration. The building was insured for £500.

Tewrerance Hatt Courany.—The annual :neeting of the Shareholders in the Temperance Hall Company, was held on Monday last. The Report of the Directors recommended the payment of a dividend of five per cent, for the past year, and the issuing of Serip, for facilitating the transfer of Shares. The report wus adopted by the meeting, and the dividend ordered to be paid on the let March next. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year :—
