MonrreaL, Nov. 19.
The Rielites have received a bad slap in the face. the leaders, it was resolved to hold a mass meeting in Camp de Mars, on Sunday next, to revive the protest made that day twelve months against the execution of Riel. Last night the Secretary of the Rielite purty issued a notice, saying that the ordinary of the diecese, without disapproving of the meeting that was announced to take place on Sunday, the 21st inst., considers that it comes under the head of those which are mentioned in his cireular lecter of August 14th last as not being desirable to be held on Sunday. Under these circumstances we ihasten to declare the meeting adjourned to a fucure date. This action of Archbishop Fabre is very signiticant, and though favor- ably worded by the Rielite manifesto, is regarded as a blow tu the Rielite party.
Murderers Respited.
Ortawa, Noy, 19.
Derose and J. Connolly, sentenced to be hanged in British Columbia on the 24th inst., have been respited to 22nd December pending an investigation into their sanity.
Robt. Maxwell, who was to have been hangea at the same time, has had his sentence commuted to imprisonment for life. The prisoners were convicted of the murder of Wim. Dillman, formerly of Nova Scotia, and latterly of Minneapolis.

The Football Match.
The Pictou correspondent of the Halifax Heraid gives the fullowing account of the ootball match between the Wanderers of dalifax and the Abegweits of Charlotte- own. The match was, in spite of the in- ‘ement weather, witnessed by a large aumber of spectators, among whoin intense nd furious excitement prevailed through- mut the game. The ground was very soft uring the tirst half. The Abegweits kept he ball dangerously near their opponents goal and compelled them to rouge it three imes. The forward play of the Abegweits vas very strong and th y succeeded in akiug the ball ahead of them out of almost ‘Very scrimmage. Heury attempted several cuns but was collared by Robinson, who tackle . magnificently. In the sécond half he Wanderers cumpelled the Abegweits to rouge twice.and they in turn were forced tuo ‘uuge once. No goals or trys were scored by either side, but the advantage was hroughout with the Abegweits. Duffus nade a kick fromthe field, which grazed ais Opponents goal post and was claimel by che Wanderers as a goal, but as it appeared ‘learly to the referee that this was not the ¢.se, it was ruled accordingly. ‘The directors of the Board in Canada, iaving bees apprised of the terribly sudden | leaths of Mr. Geotge W. DeBlois and of his laughter, upon Saturday, the 14th instant, lesire to express their heartfelt sympathy with the fimily in their bereavement.
“The directors desire further to record cheir sense of the great loss sustained by the Company in the death of Mr. DeBlois, and his removal from the Branch of the Company's business in Prince Edward Island, in the able ind conscientious wanagement of which for twenty-two years, he justly earned the entire xonfidence of the Board of Directors at the Head Office und also «-f that in Canada.”

The Bali Family in Luck. Haxirax, Nov. 19.
The American branch of the Ball! family may rejoice. Several families of the Balls, living at Sydney, Cape Breton, have re- ceived letters from a tirm of solicitors in London, that $1,500,000 has been left them by some relative long since deceased. The Ball iamily here, were related to Sir Alex- ander Ball, at one time an Admiral in the British army.
A Palace on Fire.
Lonpon, Noy. 19.
The bursting of an oil lamp set fire to Hampton Court Palace, in Middlesex, this afternoon.
The fire raged fiercely through the various appartments of the Palace for three hours, when the flames were finally subdued.
The New York Boodlers.
New York, Nov. 19. In the trial of ex-Alderman McQuaid to- day, ex-Alderuian Fullgraff, also one of the board accused of bribery, testified that the Broadway Surface Railway paid $500,000 fur its franchise, each member of the board receiving $22,000.
Condemned to Deaih. Sorta, Nov. 19.
Capt. Hobokoff, who led the revolt at Bourgas, and other persons who were impli- eated in the rising have been condemned to death. Several former officers, who took part in the revolt, were sentenced to im- prisonment for life.
A Custems Officer Dead.
Hatirax, Nov. 19.
Samuel Noble, cashier of the Customs Department in Halifax, is dead. He had
but his condition was not considered serious until within a few days of his death.
Proposais Declined.
Lonvon, Nov. 19. The White Star and Cunard Companies’ proposal to carry the mails have been de- clined. Accordingly after the 30th inst. the steamers of these lines will sail from Liverpoul ior New York direct.
Barges Wrecked--Crews Lost.
Franxrort, Mich., Nov. 19,
Two barges in tow of a steam barge, broke loose yesterday morning, 20 miles off Maneloup Island. Both barges are total wrecks and the crews, numbering 15 men, were all lost.
General Kaulbar's Retirement.
Lonpon, Nov. 19. The retirement of Gen. Kaulbar’s from Bulgaria, is spoken of in all European capitals as the retreat of Russia before the united force of Europe.
Ship Foundered.
Lonpon, Nov. 19. Advices received here state that a ship crowded with native laborers, returning from the Queensland plantations, foundered in the Pacific Ocean, and that 140 lives were lost.
