On Monday, a public holiday was observed, and a demon- stration took place in the forenoon. attended by Boy Scouts and citiuns. At B o'clock Mayor urke proceed- ed to the field set apart for the pur- pose when ‘the Boy Scouts. under Scoutmsster Rev. _W. J. Phillips. broke flag with the customs y cere- mony. In the evening a procession of Scouts, Guides and School child- rcrl marched from the school to the grounds, where they were joined by s. huge crowd from Alberton and vicinity when the usual v of lowering the flag took place, and patriotic songs were sung. This winter, Mr. Tuplln, who ls a prominent fcx breeder, decided to spend the win- ter months on Charle; River, near Harvard Bridge. in Boston harbour. He bought a. high power cruiser yacht and spent his time cruising up and down the river. One morn- ing to his surprise he found an egg evidently s. wild duck egg in a coll of rope on the seat at the side of the yacht.

Dies Suddenly A t Sammerside

_‘Friends in all parts of the pro- vince will regret to leaf-n of the very sudden passing of Mrs. Caroline Haywood, widow of B. J. Haywood. of Howlan.’ whose death occurred vestcrday morning at 9.45 ht (he ‘tome of her son, Constable Erskine HAywoodJof the R. C. M. P. st Sum- merside. ‘

Mrs. Haywood was visiting her son when she was suddenly taken ill. A doctor was called in, who upon examination found hie to be extinct. Mrs. Haywood had been suffering from high blood pressure and erud- den heart attack was the cause of her sudden passing.

The deceased lady was yell kngwn -in Prince County and, during her girlhood had resided in 'Wilrnot Valley. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Burrows, oi’ Wllmot.

After her marriage, Mrs. Haywood resided in Howlan, Prince County, and in her new home shemade many friends. She was a staunch member of the Presbyterian Church and was an active member of the W. M. S. For many years she was rreléident of the W. M. S. of Bloom-
