In the construction of the other exbibi- tion buildings there ie nothing worthy of particular remark. But a great deal of good taste has been displayed in the arrangement of the various exhibits, espe—* cially those in the horticultural building. The flowers and ornamental plants and fruits are admirably set out and grouped in such away as to most favor- ably impress the visitor. Though this is an “off year” the display of fruit is large and creditable. It is pleasing to note that the fruit growers of the various counties vie with each other and that very fine specimens of apples are shown from Antigonish as well as from Annapolis: from Pictou as well as from Kings and Cornwallis.

The roots and vegetables on exhibition in Halifax are not, upon the whole, equal in size or quality to those recently shown in Charlottetown. Butin the machinery pall there is adisplay which we cannot hope to imitate. Much of the machinery ‘¢ shown in operation and the powers Of steam and electricity as applied by the skill of Nova Scotian artisans are well brought out. The natural wealth of Nova Scotia in iron and coal and gold and other valuable minerals is so well worth develop. ment that we ere not surprised to note a particularly good exhibit of mining machinery, showing how steam and elec- tric:ty, under the control of skilful men, are brought to the aid of the miner toiling with his back bent,in the dark, under- ground, for the enrichment of the world.
