Un indi- vidu que l’on soupçonait a été mis en état d’arrestation et condamné par M. M<Queen à subir son procès aux prochaines assises.

Elle a succombée à une attaque d'un cancer interne que tous les re- mèdes de l’art ont été incapables d'arrêter.

Toujours calme, patiente et rési- gnée, elle sut cacher à sa famille et à ses amies, l'intensité de ses dou- leurs, et la religion qui dominait son cœur lui donna la force de les supporter sans plaintes et sans mur- mures.

Elle est morte à l’âge de 59 ans.

Les dernières semaines de sa ma- ladie mirent son courage et sa pa- tience à une rude épreuve qui ne fit qu'afermir sa résignation et sa soumission à la volonté de son Cré- ateur.

La regrettée défunte était une des quatorze enfants de Joseph Martin et Luce Buote et était sœur de la Révérende Sœur Marie Lutgarde actuellement dans un couvent à Jacksonville, Ill., Etats-Unis.

De ses cinq enfants, deux lui sur- vivent : Joseph aux Etats-Unis et Edmond au toit paternel.

Les funérailles ont eu lieu À Tig- uish le 10 du courant au milieu d’un grand concours de personnes.

Le service fut chanté par son beau frère, le Rév. Dr. Chiasson, qui, malgré la rigueur de la saison, a bien voulu faire un voyage de 80 milles peur présider aux funérail- les.

Les porteurs étaient :—MM. Ru- fin Buote, Joseph F. Buote, Jean C. Chiasson, Neil McDonald, Jo- seph F. Arsenault et Benoît Pitre.

Dame Chiasson était membre de la Ste. Famille, de la Ligue de la Croix, de la Société du Sacré-Cœur et du Rosaire Perpétuel.

Nous offrons nos sympathies les plus sincères à la famille éplorée dans le deuil qui vient de les attein- dre.
