The dimensions of the Campania are : length, 620 feet; beam, 65 feet; tonnage, 13000. Complete models of these and several other vessels of the |Canada line are shown; and the White Star and other lines are similarly re- presented. Turning from steamships to railways we see here, the locomotives | actually first used, side by side with those which are used to-day. A little locomotive |invented in 1803, and a little larger lucomo- tive built in 1829 are shown together with the locomotives of 1893. In the first we jgee, as it were, the puny baby; in the last the full-grown man. The development thus exhibited is enormous. The principal railways of North and South | America are represented here. That which the United States bas accomplished in this | respect is wonderful. TWO VESSELS GO DOWN, And Many Lives Lost
Lonpon, May 16.
The captain of the steamship City of Hamburg, which has arrived at Swansea from Hamburg, reports that on Saturday afternoon his vessel collided in the fog off Trivose Head, Ovornwall, with the ship Countess Evelyn, bound with passengers and iron ore from Bilbos, Spain, to New- port, Wales. Captain and mate of the Count- ess Kvelyn jumped aboard the City of Ham- burg, and ninety s.c ndg later the Counters Evelyn went under with her crew of six- teen men and nine passengers. Boats were lowered at once from the City of Hamburg, but the search in the fog proved almost useless, A seaman was picked up, but he died a few minutes after. The dead body of a little girl was also. found.
The steamship Alana argived at Cardiff in a damaged condition on Saturday. She was in oollision with an unknown ship off Lundy Isles. The Alana’s captain thinks the other vessel-went down with all on board.

One of the heaviest gales of the season set in about 5 o’clock on Saturday night, accom- panied with torrents of rain. The wind was almost due east, and attainet! a velocity of 32 miles an hour between ten’ é’clock and mid- night, when it commenced to moderate, Ves- sels at anchor in the berbor dragged some- what, and several of those at the wharves chafed their sides, but no damage of any con- sequence was sustained.
