Christmas . Service; At Hampton

The Christmas service in the United Church. at Hampton on Sunday. December not, was of particular interest. In addition to the Christmas message and music. the C.G.I.T. girls sang a carol and Miss Dorothy Baxter a solo.

A beaulful communion table, presented by Miss Laura MacF'ar- lane, was unveiled by her brother, Mr. William Maclilarlane, and ac- cepted on behalf of tlfe congrega- tion by the pastor. who expressed appreciation of Miss Ms.cFn.rlsne's gift and dedicated the table with prayer. -

Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Rogerson presented their infant son. Dennis Ralph, for baptism.

with the church nicely trimmed with evergreen, and the beautiful moming sunshine it was a most inspiring worship service.

Accident caused liy' Runaw'y liorse

-Mrs. Norman Ferguson of Haml- ltlon, P, E. 1., suffered a painful and serious accident on Saturday noon December 20th when she and Mr. Ferguson were thrown from their wagon by a runaway horse. They were driving to Kensington when the horse became frightened lbefore leaving their farmyard. Tumlng at the lgateway the oc- cupants of the wagon were thrown heavily to the ground. Mrs. Fer- guson's leg was broken above the knee and she was suffering from shock and bruises. She was taken by ambulance to the Prince County Hospital.

Mr. Ferguson suffered minor in- juries, cuts and bruises. Their many friends hope they will soon re- cover.

Frank MacNelll and Mrs. Alfred Simpson. The following program was presented: Opening chorus: "Away In A Manger"; Christmas Story read by Marcia Hunterand Carla. Macxlnnon; prayer. Nancy Coffin; vocal solo, Catherine Mil- ler: recitation. Aleah Wood; piano solo, Paul Oixcr; recitation, Joan Mountain; recitation, M at g I r e t Murray; vocal duet, Helen Bishop and 'Alan Hubley; recitation: by Judy Hancock. David Miller, Alan Hubley, Diane Macaualand. Leigh Baker. Elaine Macmwen; closing chorus, "Silent Night". Refresh- ments of ice-cream and cake were served to the member. after which Masters Andrew and Victor Chan treated all to chocolates.

- CANDLELIGHT SERVICE-At the Summerside Presbyterian Church on Sunday evening a can- dlellght service was held and the Junior Girls' Choir sang ”O Come All Ye Faithful" during the Pro- cessional. Special selections by the Senior Choir were ”Joy To The World", "Coventry Carol", ”Whlle Shepherds Watch", "Westminster Carol”, "Good King Wenceslas" "All This Night", ”Christians Awake", -"Silent Night" (iadies' sextetle), and "As with Gladncss" by male quartette. The solotparts were taken by Miss Myrna Hancock and Mr. Thomas I-fell, director. Mrs. Cleve Whalen was organist. Several special numbers were giv- en by the Junior Girls' Choir at the close of the service. The min- ister, Rev. J. Donald MacKay, gave a. short and inspiring Christmas message. V s,

Shepherds. Wise Men and Mary were featured in a tableau scene. Mrs. W.A. Hanper read the Christ- mas legend of ”The Little Clock- maker” and the Misses Shirley Poole and June King sang a Christmas carol. Miss Beth Har- per was heard in the vocal solo, "Gesu Bambino". and the choir rendered an appropriate anthem. In conclusion the C,G.I.T. held a cundlc-lighting service. Christmas hymns were sung by the congre- gation. and Mr. James Peach was organist. Two Christmas anthems were sung by the choir at the morning service. 5

-SPECIAL SERVICE-On Sun- day evening the Church of Christ, Summersidc. held a combination Missionary and Christmas service with Mrs. Bishop Read, acting president, in charge of the worship period. After the opening hymn, ”0 Come All Ye Faithful", Miss Dorothy Linkletter read the Christ- mas Story in St. Luke 2, and Mrs. W. O. Weale onered prayer. Mrs Read gave an interesting address on ”The Importance of Women's Work in the spreading -of the Gospel". A vocal duet, "His Love 15 All My Plea" by Rev. and Mrs W. O. Weale was much appreciat- ed.
