A very impressive Candle Light service was held in st. Jolur, unit. ed Church, Mt. Stewart on Sunday evening under the guidance of the Rev. W. T. Mercer. A large crowd was in attendance.

Much credit is due the post mi - tress Mrs. Bertrum MacDonald w 0 at this Christmas season handled a very large volume of mail for local delivery as well as for four rural carriers who make their rounds in rain. snow or sunshine.

Owing to the sudden storm on Monday night the electricity failed in Mt. Stewart about 10 p.m. and it was 5. PM. on Tuesday before lines were put in operation again. This left a lot of citizens without light and heat for about 16 hours. as well as a short water supply. as many depend on the electric motors for their water supply. Those with the hand pump were more fortunate and shsred it with their neighbors who were running with kettles. pots and pans for water. The tele- phone iines were also down but Inotoi traffic was not tied up at any time although car owner's reported

A program of contests and other entertainment was in charge of Mrs. A. E. Sullivan. A special feature of the evening was the presentation of a gift to Mrs. Mal- colm Patierson. who is leaving shortly to reside in Charlottetown. An address was read by Mrs. Leon Johnston, and the gift pre- seated by Mrs. Jamieson. Mrs. Patterson graciously expressed her appreciation. A delicious lunch was served by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. 'Carl Stewart, Mrs. Jane Sullivan, and Mrs. Peter Sinclair.

The Angel of Death visited Mur- ray Harbor North on Nov. 24, 1950 as the shades of evening were falling his spirit winged its flight to realms of joy and peace. De- ceased had reached the age of 82 years and 10 months. He was a son of the late John B. Graham and Phoebe (Hicken) Graham.

Although in failing health for the past two years he was able to be around until two weeks prev- ious to his death. His wife, nee Mary Sencabaugh survives also two children (Lois) Mrs. Piercy I-licken, Sturgeon and Wilbert Graham. Gaspereaux and one grandchild, Garfield Graham. He was tenderly cared for in his last illness by his wide. son and daugh- ter, also I devoted daug-hier-in- law with relatives and friends, who were always at his bed side to minister to his comfort. I

Deceased was a worthy citizen and a good neighbour. ever ready io give a helping hand to all. Also left to mourn his death is one broiiher Stephen G. Graham. Maiden, Mass, three sisters. (Mary. Janet) Mrs. Hart Sencabaugh; Oak Valley. (Carrie) widow of the late John Johnston, Peter's Road. (Jessie) Mrs. William Senca- baugh, Murray Harbor North and a large number of nephews and nieces.

He was a member of the Ma- sonic Order for fifty two years, the oldest member of the lodge.

The funeral which was largely attended was held on Monday. Nov. 21, Rev. Mr. Young officiat- ing with I short service at the house then from Murray Harbor North Church. Rev. God in the highest, and on earth peace to men of good will," Rev. Father Mccardle brought a mes- sage of Christian love and charity to one's feilowman in accordance with the message brought on that first Christmas morn at Bethle- hem.

During the communion service the hymns ”Adeste Fideles" and "Silent Night" were sung by the choir. At. the conclusion of high mass, the benediction of peace was given the congregation by the celebrant.

The annual meeting of the W. M. S. of the Montague Trinity Un- ited Church was held at the manse on Thursday night. The beauti- ful devotional service. conducted by Mrs. Eiihan Stewart, took the form of a candle lighting service. The theme song was ”Home and Worship." Mrs. L. A. Johnston was the pianist and Mrs. Douglas Coffin led the carols. Five can- dles, representing Love. Joy, Light, Peace and Hope were lit, and a carol to suit each candle was sung. Several leaders told the Chris-ttnas story, old, but ever new. Prayer by the leader closed this part of the program.

The president. Mrs. Leon John- ston, then took over the business arising from the minutes which was discussed extensively. It was decided to hold work meetings in the new year when the members will continue to make warm quilts for overseas relief. The financial statement showed that members must make a special effort, and send in a little extra so that the allocation may be reached.

A report of hospital and sick calls showed: hospital calls, l4; sick, 16. 18 cards and ii treats were sent to sick and shut-ins.
