Apvices from Tignish report that Edmund Welsh, the nine-year-old son of Mr. Welsh, cleaner in the Round House there, was missed from his home last night, and this morning was found lying between the rails on the freight house siding dead. It is supposed that he fell fromthe top of a boxcar while in motion. An inquest was held this afternoon.

of great ability. ee We learn that our enterprising townsman, Mr. James E. Grant, has purchased the schooner Kohinoor, 88 tons, one of Lunen- burg’s fastest.sailers. She goes into the Bay throughly equipped with new seines and necessary gear for the mackerel business, and no doubt will establish the fact that this business is in the hands of our business men if they only look after it. We wish him the success he deserves. His schooner is a twelve knotter and fears no American fast sailers. —_—_+~.—__— Honter Selick, whose tent has occupied a prominent position on Market Square for a few weeks during several summers past, is again on his rounds. This time his menagerie consists of a moose, ground hog and bull dog, the two first named being captured in the Quebec forest. He was in Newcastle, N. B., last week, and the Advocate of that place has the following reference to him:—‘He issued{no flaming poster, and had no brass band parade, but quietly told of his desperate struggle with the moose, while the ground hog and bu!l dog slept in the corner. Mr. Sellick and his mewayerie will probably visit us shortly. Tuts being the feast of Corpus Christi Pon tifical High Mass was celebrated at the Cathe- dral by His Lordship, assisted by the Revs. J.C. MeDonald, A. E. Burke, J C. MeLean and F. X. Gallant, as: Assistant Priest, Deacon, Sub-Deacon and Master of Cere- monies,respectively. Father McLean preach- ed a very appropiate sermon. At 8 o'clock mass Father Burke gave communion to a large number of boys and girls who were confirmed by the Bishop at 30 clock. Before adminis- tering the Sacrament of Confirmation His Lordship delivered an earnest exhortation to the children. He was assisted during the ceremony by the above mentioned clergymen. After Confirmation the children were enrolled in the confraternity of the Scapular by Fathers Gallant and Burke. The temperance vledge was administered to the boys in the morning. -_o- SS eK Ir is proposed (should a sufficient number of Subscribers be obtained) to publish, within the course of the next few months, the follow- ing collection of lectures delivered in Prince Edward Island by the late Very Rev. Dr. Macdonald, V. G., together with a series of fifteen letters addressed by him to the Char- lottetown /Tera/d in 1874, during his visit to Great Britian and Ireland. The collection of lectures will comprehend eight subjects, viz: The Lapidary Art, Progress, Missionary Footprints, Louisburg, Historic Parallels, The Celtic Race, A Chapter in our Island History, The Race of Somerled. The book will also contain a biographical sketch of Dr. Macdon- ald and a portrait engraved from his latest photograph. It will consist of about 350 pages, bound in cloth and richly gilt, and wiil cost One Dollar. Those desirous of ordering a copy, can notify as soon as convenient, the Rev. J. C. Macdonald, Rector of St. Dun- stan’s College. We feel sure that both Catholics and Protestants will gladly embrace this opportunity of securing a valnable and pleasing souvenier of the well beloved “Father Dan.”

Sad Drowning Accident.
Magvoka, lowa, June 8.
Five boys, three named Breck and two named Linckley, were drowned in the Maquoketa here yesterday. Three of
them got beyond their depth when another boy jumped in to save them. Another noticing the failure of the first pluaged in and all were drowned. Mr. Blake's Resignation. roronto, June 8.
