AN Epipemic or Typuoip.—A Columbus, Ohio, despatch of the 14th says : Informa- tion was received by the State Board of Health to-day that an epidemic of typhoid fever is raging at Clermontville, Obio. There have already been 39 cases, of which 25 were fatal. At present 40 persons were stricken. Business is entirely suspended, and the 200 people who make up the popu- lation are wiid with fear. The secretary of the Board of Health is investigating the affair and will take steps to prevent the epidemic from spreading.

Oyster Cvuiture.—Says the Chatham World: Mr. D. Hatton of Halifax is ex- perimenting in oyster culture on Bay du Vin River, with the intention of leasing the river for oyster beds if he succeeds.

Cuancep Hanvs.—The Boston Pilot has been purchased by Mr. Patrick Donahue, Editor of Donahue’s Magazine, who owned the property a number of years ago. It passed out of Mr. Donahue’s hands when he became financially embarassed. Arcl- bishop Williams the: took hold of the pro- erty and made the late John Boyle O'Rielly its editor. Under his manage- ment the paper made money rapidly. On the death of Mr. O'Reilly the paper was left wholly in the Archbishop’s hands.
