APATHY HITS BUSINESS SOCIETY

It is with a good deal of ..

sadness that I take up my . pen this week. This year I

' have constantly voiced my

belief in the superiority of Business students over virtually everyone else on campus. I really believed that we had successfully generated a pride in our program which in turn generated plenty of spirit, and willingness to get involved, and to help out. Obviously, I was wrong. Apparently the mere fact that we are centred in our own building on canpus does not mean that our overall attitude is any different — we're every bit as apathetic as the rest of the student population.

At titre of writing, (2:00 p.m. Tuesday), five nomination sheets have been turned in for a possible seven positions. What is even more

Bernardine third floor

(who won their first gazre last week) took on Blanchard Hall (who have only lost one game) in the finals of file girls intermurals brocn'ball tournament on Wed. 22.

Vince Mulligan the inter— mural director said that this final game was the best game of the season.

Blanchard scored early

in the game and Bernardine was never able to come back, (although they gave it a hell of a try). The final score was ]—0 for Blanchard.

We would like to "c'lank all the particapents of the tOurnanent. We would like to give special thanks to Vince Mulligan, because without him inter-murals would not be possible.

Dear Editor,

This letter is directed to the Southport Catholic Wcmens Ieague, and the let— ter they sumitted to you in the last edition of the U.P. E.I. SUN.

'Ihey refered to the ad' in your last issue concer— ning prophylactics as, and I quote, "trash and trivia" and attacked it further by questioning the noral fab— ric of the students of U.P. E.I. In response to this all I can say is that "never in my university lays have I ever been confronted with such a closed minded or pruddish attitude, as that conveyed in the letter."

'Ihere type of attitude toward the very real issue of sexual relations should have, no part in an instit- ution of higher education. If they wish to continue in there approach with re- gard to the use of prophy—p lactics, I wish they would confine themselves to Southport and keep their moralistic tendencies where they belong, which is certainly not within the realm of university life. We are open minded people here at U.P.E.I., and we don't need you, or your league, to make our moral value judgements. for us.

Qaen your eyes and may- be you might see that you . are no longer living in a society hung-up on nineteenth century morality.

Dear Editor,

Having been anoung some of the "chosen few", to at- tend the Deans Supper, I mu must honestly say that it was the biggest disappoint— ment I have had since coming to U.P.E.I.

Realistically speaking it was a farce and all it did for me was to encourage me not to make the so-called privileged "list" again.

tend the grand fiesta, you didn't miss anything, and I hope you enjoyed your McDonalds meal, it was surely better than ours! Disappointed;
