These few lines are-in reply to Stan Dalton's article of Apr. 11th, "In Defense Of The Good". This article after one dispenses with the sarcastic references to the business

, world has a point. The question that I ask is: Do you Mr. Dalton know of any system or society in existence in this world that is doing a better job of providing equality and free— dom? One can look to our northern neighbours and see that the common man, in this country that is suppoé sedly run by the common man for the common man has little choice in his life. Freedom of expression is a right that is taken very seriously by the members of the staff of this paper and to my experience this is one of the most free societies that has ever existed on the face of the earth. To speak of what would be better than the present situation is fine however our society is baSed on money, as have all modern societies and until we can find a better systemi lets not be too critical of the one we have. Dear Mom: A It has been 3 months since I left for College. I have been remiss In writting, and I am 'very sorry for my thoughtlessness in not having written ’béfore. Please sit down before you read this.

I am getting along pretty well now. The skull fracture and con- cussion i got when i jumped out of the window of my dormitory when it caught fire shortly after my arrival. are pretty well heal-

' ed now. i only spent 2 weeks in

hospital and iv can see almost normally now and get those head- aches only once in a while.

Fortunately, the' fire in the dormi- tory and my jump were witnes- sed by an attendant at the gas station nearby and he was the one who called the fire department and ambulance. He also visited me in the hospital and sincefii had nowhere to live because of the fires he was kind enough to invite ,me to share his appert- ment with him. it is really a base-

ment room, but it is kind of cute.‘ He is a very fine boy and we have fallen in love and are plan- ning to marry. We haven't set the date yet. but it will be some- time before my pregnancy shows.

The reason for the delay in our marriage is that my boyfriend has some infection which prevents us to marry without .a premari- tal blood test and I carelessly caught it from him. This will clear up with the penicillin injec- tions I am taking daily.

i know you will welcome him into our home with'open arms. He is kind and. although not well educat- ed. he is ambitious. Although he is of a different race and reli- gion than ours. i know your oft-

expressed tolerance will not per- mit you to be iothered by the fact that his skin color is some- what darker than ours. I am sure you will love him as i do. His family background is good. too. for i am told that his father is an important gun-bearer in the village in Africa from which he comes.

Now that l have brought you up to date, | wantto tell you that there was no fire in my dormi- tory. i did not have a concussion or skull fracture. l was not in the hospital. I am not pregnant. I am not engaged. i do not have syphiilis. and there is no one in my life. however. I am getting a D in History and an F in Science and i wanted you to see these marks in their proper perspective.
