Ferry likely To Start Today

Barring unforseen difficulties the Rocky Point Ferry vvlil begin crossings today.

..Tiie Ferry has been in readiness for some time but workmen have been awaiting ll Spring tide to pl- ace the floziis tinder the landing ramp at the Charlottetown side.

Each year when the boat is tied up for the ttintcr, the steel floats are removed from the slip and the ramp is tied upito prevent damage from ice. To resume the service it is necessary to replace the floats under the ramp and an except- ionaly high tide is necessary for them to take the weight.

Workmen were hopeful that the tilde would rise high enough last 'night to allow this operation to take place. It has been pointed out ,that Spring tides occur only every 1 three weeks and it is only on such an occasion that the work can be

The funeral of the late Mrs. AI- frod Canfleld of Westmorelancl was held Friday afternoon. April 6th at 2.” from the Tryon United Baptist Church of which the decea- sed had been a most valuable mem- ber for many years.

Dr. Barrass In his eulogy paid glowing tribute to the life and work of the late Mrs. Csnfield. who for so many years of her long life had been a chronic invalid.

The large attendance at the church and graveside. as well as the many beautiful flowers. all spoke eloquently for the love and est- eem held by the comunity for the one who has now passed into the immediate presence of her lord.

The final concert of this season's Community Concert Associatloir offerings was given last night in Prince of Wales College Hall be- fore a large and appreciative aud- ience, the artist being Miss Sara- mae Endich. soprano, who was accompanied at the piano by Mr. Carl Davis of New York.

Miss Endich possesses a warm, lyrical tone and her interpretat- ions revealed her as a sensitive and highly gifted vocalist. Now at the outset of her concert career she has already appeared in opera with the Boston Symphony Orches- tra and in choral pufurrnancel iiiroughout the United States. On this, her first visit to Char- iottetown, she made a splendid im- pression and was enthusiastically encored.

Miss Endich opened her pro- gramme with a group of early classical numbers, J ' ” is sung. "Chi Vuol Innamorarsi" by Scarlatti, and another by Gulsepr Torelti, a composer seldom heard today. Handel was represented by an aria. "Come Beloved" from his opera "Atalanta" and Mozart by the famous "Alleluia". from the motel ”ExsuItate Jubilate," which was given a very effective render-
