Mrs. Barrett who was a, mem- ber of a family of eleven was born st Union Road. P. E. 1.. on Febru- sry 21st, 1864. a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. christopher Bry- canton.

The following sisters and broth- rrs predeceased her:-Jennie. Elis- sbeth, (Mrs. John Mallett), susan, lMrs. W. N. Toombs), Joseph, Dharles. Isaac. Christopher and Rev. William Brycnton.

She is survived by one brother. Rev. Wallace Bryenton, Bucyrus, Ohio. and one sister Rehecca. Mrs. Hammond Mallett, Vancouver. 3. 0.: also by four sons. Heber. trecii. Leigh of Kingston and Dr.

Alherton Boy Scout I Auction

An auction sale in aid of tin Boy scout troop and the Alberto: Women's Institute was held in thi W. I. Hall Saturday afternoon. During the morning Scouts collect- ed a great variety of articles from householders and merchants. They were arranged in the hall by members of the women's Institute. At 3 P. M. Auctioneer Don Campbell went into auction with his usual wit and enthusiasm. Clothing, furnishings. canned goods, dishes. etc., were rapidly lalocked down to the highest bid- '5 der. '

Plans for the sale had been made by the scout group commit- tee, Don Campbell, Prank Weeks, Merritt Callaghan. Mrs. S. R. Burke and Mrs. Arthur Wllkie in co-operation with Scout- mastcr T. J. Keefe. assistant Scoutmaster G. H. Coffin and members of the Women's Institute. 'rrucks for the collection of the articles were donated by the Weeks Radio service and J. W. D. Campbell's store.

The Ladies' Aid held a social evening in the form of a poverty party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Stevenson on Wednes- day evening, March 28. Much rnerriment was caused as the guests arrived in their costumes. J. M.acDowell and Clinton Glydon were appointed judges. The ladies' prizes for poverty cos- tumes were won by Mrs. James Murray and Mrs. Ella Aibboit. The winners in turn judged the men and prizes were awarded to Earl Weeks and Stevie Thompson. Everyone in a jovial manner play- ed games and contests. A delicious lunch was served by the ladies and all departed to their homes after as very pleasant evening.

For years I have stressed the need of a live stock policy in this Prov- ince especially in reference to cat- tle. Although the Government well knows our cattle population is re- ceding, practically no effort has been made to increase the num- bar. we now have less than 100.- 000 head 0! cattle.

"This Province can pasture Ind feed twice that number of dairy and beef animals. 100,000 more animals, would be worth at least s1o,ooo,ooo to our farmers and that would mean prosperity to our farmers rather than be in the precarious financial condition that many are this spring. surely 15 years of power and rule is a sufficient iemth of time to show some perfur ance. Do you not think it is now some one else's chance.
