Cleanliness Allis Against Disease

Sanitation 1s highly important, in aucessful poultry production. The laying house should have a south or southeasterly exposure to ensure n maximum oi direct sun- light during the winter months and should be well insulated and ventilated. Where hlrds are housed under these conditions the chances of infection from colds respiratory diseases will be less- ened. The laying house should have n concrete floor, dropping boards and roasts underlined with poultry netting to keep the pullets away-from the dr0l>l>lﬂKI~

An inportant step in protecting the new flock from disease is that. of cleaning the laying house before bringing in the pulletr from rams. At the Dominion Experimental Station, Lacombe Alta. the follow- ing system ia used, says JJ-l. West. All movable equipment such as dropping boards, roolta, nuts and hoppers are scrubbed and washed with hot water and neollns and left out in the sun for a few dlYl The walla and ceilings are sprayed with disinfectant to remove-dust.
