Ch'town Group Plans\Dinner

A group of Charlottetown sports followers have undertaken the task of arranging a testimonial dinner in honor of Forbie Kennedy, just recently returned to the Island after being sidelin- ed with a broken collar bone while performing with the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League

This group of sports minded gentlemen met at a local restaur- ant yesterday over a bite of dinner to discuss plans for the pro ject and they selected a committee to complete the necessary arrangements. The committee ‘includes Charles Ryan, Bill Ledwell, George ‘Stewart, Hal Whitlock and Lorne Hennessey.

We think this is an excellent idea as Kennedy is a product of the local minor hockey system and is by far the Island's most successful hockey son. This humble observer thinks it is only fitting that the Island's only representative in the National Hoc- key League receive some recognition from his many friends and followers for his success in the NHL hockey wars

Kennedy is one of the ‘select few’ that was able to make the jump from Junior ‘A’ hockey into the ‘big time’. Kennedy he graduated from the Montreal Junior Canadiens to the Chicago Black Hawks of the National Hockey League. The Hawks traded Kennedy to the Detroit Red Wings and Forbie ran into a ‘snag’
