We are informed by letter from Westport, Pa, dated January 9th, 1582, that William S., son ef Stanislaus F, Perry. Esq., M. P. P., very narrowly escapec: death not long since while running logs off the side of a moun 7 of the Allegheny range near that place \ | tree had fallen across the slide, and cansed the | logs to pile up against it, when young Perry | undertook to cut off the tree for the purpos: 2 | of freeing the logs. When cut nearly through he stepped off it, when it broke and the logs started. He jumped on them and rode safely | for one hundred yards, when he fell over and | | about fifty loys ssed over him, br wising him, as may well . supposed in. a shocking manner, but not fatally. He was insured in the Traveller's Accident Insurance Co, and receives $5 a week until he is able to work. - Journal.
