At Cape Traverse, on Savurday, three mey narrowly escaped a watery grave. Thbev were Daniel McKinnon, Jobn Mur- ray and Robert McLeod, and while they were setting herring nets their sloop was capsized bya strong wind. All three were thrown into the water, and were it not for the timely arrival of Captain Thomas Howatt would have met a watery graye. The men were very much ex- hausted when Captain Howatt reached them.

Soria, May 5,—A thousand or more peasants belonging to the neighborhood of the fortified ztown of Rustchuk,on the Danube, have mutinied. Mr. Alfred Gordon, who at one time taught io West Kent School, died in Montreal on Friday, and his body will be brought to Alberton for interment to- morrow. Mr. Jordon, it is said, went to Montreal to undergo an operation for spinal disease.

Hoas 1n Toronto.—According to the Globe ot Friday there is no change in the price of bogs. The price paid is $6 26 percwt. for selections of 160 to 200 |bs. natural weight, $5.75 per cwt. for fate, and $5.50 per cwt. for lights.

CanaDIAN Manuracturers.—The execu- tive of the Canadian Mauufacturers’ Asso- ciation has decided to summon 8 convention of manufacturers to meetin Toronto the last week in August. ‘The principal mat- ter to be considered will be the extension of Canadian trade abroad and tbe work of convention will follow non-political lines. Five hundred delegates are expected.
