A highly successful picnic was held on the spacious ouiids of Rev. B. V. Mnchean, tanlcy Bridge. on Wednesday afternoon for friends. officers and workers of the Prince Edward Island Auxiliary of the British and For- eign Bible Society. A numerous gathering among whom was a

acenic beauty and the warm fel- lowship of the occasion. Prizes for the various events were pre- sented by Rev. B. V. Mat.-Lean. During the proceedings the Dis- trict Secretary. Rev. E. ll. B. Wheelock gave a brief challeng- ing address on the work of the Society, growing out of his ob- servations on his recent visit to the Society's headquarters in Lon- don, Englaiid. Mr. wheeioc' em- phasized the outstanding callibre and devotion of the then giving leadership to the Society, and how very greatly the contribution made by Canada is needed in these times of the high purchasing power of the Canadian dollar. the heavy burden of taxation under
