Cawapa’s Srace.— Canada, it seems, must put up with 12,000 «quare feet of epace in the general — at the Pavia Exhibition, instead of 15,000 feet,as had been promised. As Compensation, how- ever, 3,000 fest additional space will be ava'lable in the Colonia! building making | altogether 27,100 of the 36,000 feet cons trained in the builling. The total aggre- gate of space for Canada therefore, wili be 39,100 square feet.

Interesting Hockey Match—Exhibi- tion of Fancy Skating.

The star of the second Victorias is still | in the aecendant. Last night they played

their second match for the intermediate trophy going up against the St, Dunstan’s team,

The game was tast and furious while the puck was in play, and there was no combination work worth speaking about. Hockey sticks were broken and players were thrown about the ice describing al! kinds of attitudes. Bat little things like that did noteeem to epoil the temper of the players, and there was no hard feeling visible,

The hockey match wes preceded by an exibition of fancy skating given by Mies Fannie Davidson and her brother Mr. John Davideon. It was expect:d that this feature of the entertainment would Legin at 8 o’clock, but it was not until 8.26 that the skaters sppearedon the ice, and the wait had a depressing effect upon the spectators. The costumes worn by the skaters were neat avd appropriate. Both appeared on the ice ip an outs:de roll mouvement. Thea Miss Davidson alone performed the eutside roll, inside roll, grape vine, Outside roil backwards, grape vine with variations, figure three, Puila-~ delphia twist, outside edge roll with steps on tiptoe, which had a pleasing efect, winding up ker performance with certain combivatioes with ap ouisile roll. Her movements were regular and graceful, ekillfally excuted and her figures and curves were -welldefinede Mr. Davidaoa then appeared, executing outside edge combinatien}, inside edges with pirouettes, very neatly H.s spine on one foot and on both feet gained for bim well merited applause; hismovemerie were rapid, dicult and very cleverly perform-~ ed, showing great agility. He sound up with “wheel barrow” and ‘spread eagle’ acts. Tar Womex on Swake+Prare.—There was a large gathering in the parlor of the First Methedist Church last evening to lis’en to Mies Lcfargey’s paper on ‘Some of the women in Shakespsare.” Miss Lefurgey selected two charactere—Portia asd Deedemona—and by appropriate quota- tions presented the dramatic scenes in which they acted and set forth the lessons Bhakespeare intented to teach in his Merchantof Venice and O.bello. The paper wasexce lent from every point of view, and the clever writer and elocutionst received a well merited vote of thanks. Rev. G. M. Campbell presided.
