THe case of Miss Anuie C, Hain, a very respectable young lady of Womelsdorf, Read- ing County, Pa., is attracting much attention from the medical practitioners. On Sunday afternoon, June 3, she was suddenly taken ill and became unconscious. Since then she has remained in a stupor, notwithstanding the best medical treatment. It is not known what her ailment is, as she was seemingly in perfect health up to the time of her prostra- tion,

In a recent number of the London //lustrat- ed Sporting and Dramatic News we find por- traits of the Canadian Lacrosse Team now playing in Fngland. The work might have been better, asit is almost impossible to recognize any of the men. In speaking of the group the News says:—‘“‘It is a Canadian characteristic to look radiant and happy, for which the glorious climate is doubtless chiefly responsible, and one of the reasons why la- croose is so firmly engrafted as a Canadian sport is that it requires high spirits in its ex- ponents. Canadians are always in high spirits,”

Tuovucut Reapine.—Mr. Labouchere,M.P., recently challenged Irving Bishop, the thought reader, to tell the number of a bank note known only to Labouchere and to Mr. Firth, M. P., the latter to hold the bank note. La bouchere put up £1,000 against £100, the pro- ceeds to be devoted to charity. Three thou- sand persons Were present at St. James Hall London, the evening of the 14th inst., to see the result, but owing to disputes concerning the conditions neither Lebouchere nor Firth was present. A note belonging to one of the audiences was placed in the hands of Col. Stratham, and Bishop guessed the number at first attempt. He now claims that he won ; the £1,000. The audience was disorderly. °

Island, who have recently erected a saw and planing mill at the foot of Westmorland street, expect to commence operations next week. To-day they will raise steam and test tze machinery. They would have been able to do so yesterday but the high wind that prevailed prevented them hoisting the funnel or smoke stack into position.
