ON THE HOCKEY ICE.
Abegweits Win Both Games.— First —7-4, Secoud —7-2.
At last was the ice in a fit condition for hockey. Nothing better could be desired. The cevotees of the game were out en masse, and witnessed two of the most in- teresting and cleanest games ever played in Charlottetown In the senior match both teams were very strong, as individuel players and et-ck haodler-, but last n ight saw combination work entered into with greater skill and eo filenee than ever be- fore. The Vic vocit fast ard active playing, vuuia bv ictocd up against the combined rushes of the Abgeweit for- wards. The puck was acually passed with accuracy and without fear. The game was in several instances decidedly rough, aod heavy falls were frequent. For roughness McLeod finished on the boards. Bat it is not io be supposed that heckeyists will ever eutirely eliminate checkiog and use the stick alone, Frem a spectacular aspect everything pleased. The runs of Sullivan, Howat, aod of H. Brebaut and Worth were the liven'ng in- cidents. T.e playing of Unsworth wes splendid, and McLeod’s dashes were breash catching moments. From vow to finish the scoring was not slow. MeLeod, Howatt avd Bethune made a goaleach. H. Brehaut was everywhere,

Acaipent.—While Mr. James McCal- lum, of Lot 48, was crossing,the river with a load of wheat the horse and load went ' down. By estrenoous efforts the horse ; alone was saved, the sleigh and wheat going down to the bottom.
Horst Drownep.—A horee owned by a man named Mclsaac etarted for Rocky Point yesterday evening without a driver. When nearly across the river the horse and sleigh went through the ice. The poor animal was drowned before anyone could reach the placeof ac cident.
