The property has been bonded with a right to conduct prospecting and mining operations. There are three

Kincston, Jamsica, June 6.~—Advices frem the Island of Montserrat, of the Lee - ward vroup, British West Indiee, report that 45 earthquakes occured in a period of five bours on May 17th, and that these were followed by frequent insolated thocke. Much damage was done to buildings and growing crops, and a tew fatalities occured. The population, the advices say, is de~ moralized.

QvueENsvitte, Ont , June 6.—Jacob Smith’s large baro,twe miles from here, was struck by lightning and totally des~ troyed. The contents, consisting of 800 bushels of oats and 1,000 bushels of wheat and aclover mill, with five horses and two cows, were burned to acinder.

Overtakes a Party of Yukon Gold-- Seekers.

Victoria, June 6.—Twenty nine gold~ seekers who had been stalled all winter on the Edmonton trail bave arrived here. They tel! awfal stories of hardships, disas- ter and death in the northern wilderness from drowning, scurvy and starvation. J.M. Smith and J. W. Irving, two of the just returned miners, say many meu have found death on the Edmonton trail. Mavy are lying beneath the waters of Great Slave Lake, for severai boats which started down that wind-swept inland sea were swamped and toe occupants drowned. A party of tes or twelve men have doubt~ lees periehed inthe snow-co¥ered moun< tains in the vicinity of the Upper Liard post. A large party of prospectors start~ ed out in December from a point twenty miles above Ford Liard and two handred west of the McKenzie river. Their desti- nation was the Upper Liard post. They were ninety days on the trail, owing to the fact that they were encumbered by heavy loads of baggage, and the travelling was ex- ceedingly heavy. Finally they reached a point on the Coles river, three miles from Lower Liard post, and about ove bondred miles from their original destination,
