The celebration of the golden jubilee of} the Very Rev. Monsignor James Macdon- ald V.G, pastor of St. Andrew's was a pleasing feature in the closing exercises at Notre Dame Convent, which took place onthe 27th of June. It has already been favor- ably alluded to and to-day we take pleasure in giving a more detailed accovnt for the gratification of the numerous friends of the worthy prelate, to whom it was dedi- cated, and of the institution on which it reflects so much credit.
The exercises were held in the music hall, which was tastefully decorated for the occasion. Appropriate mottoes adorned the wa'ls, as ** Quid Retribuam Domino,” ** Magnificat anima mea Domintum,” ** la te Domine, Speravi.” Covepicuous among the inscriptions were the date, ‘* June 26, 1842,” ** June 26, 1892,” and *‘*50” in gilt letters.
Monsignor Macdoaald little dresmed of a celebration in his huvor, having cor- sented to preside at the distribution cf prizes in the absence of Bishop Macdonale, tle was, therefore, not a little su p ised, on entering the department, to see the featal decurations and was uti'l more taken aback by ths programme of exercises, which read as follows :

A Very beautiful address of thanks to the revereni pastos and esteemed f.i nds present, brought to a close an entertainment which was pronounced by all to be one of the most interesting and detightful at which they had assisted. Monsignor Macdon:ld was deeply touched by the loving tribute offered him, and responded in teeling terms He said he had kept the date of the anniversary a secret, but that the ladies found it out and published it. He alluded to the grave thoughts which the event awakened ad concluded by congratulating the youag lidi g and their preceptresses on the detightful entertainment just ,iven Rev.
