SAOKVILLE. N. 5., Oct. N -— tCP)-An "entirely new picture" of the possibilities from construction of s Cthignecto canal was presented tonight by R. Herbert Cooper, O‘.- tsws, in an address to a large meet- ing sponsored by the Chignecto Canal Committee of the Amherst. NS, and Sackvilie Boards of Trade.

Mr. Cooper, engineer attached to the Public Projects Branch of the Department of Trade and Coni- merce. outlined his privately drawn plan for the canal development as a three-fold pi-ogrami embracing electric power. a navigation canal and agricultural improvements.

The Ottawa engineer told the meeting that. his plan was to con- struct a dam between Black Point and ‘Mlnudie Point, with regulat- ing gates on the Minudie side and a navigation lock on the Black Point side. Hydraulic dredges would .be used to dredge through the isthmus to Tidnishnvhercthe pow- er house and the second navigation lock would be placed.

Veteran Navigators Begin Special Course At S’side Air School

OTTAWA, Oct. zit-The R. C. A. F. is strengthening Its hand for aerial navigation across the (‘anadian north.

its first specialist navigation course has opened at the Air Navigation School in Summer- slde, P. 15.1., it was announced today. Eight veteran navigat- ors will study‘ and fly for six months to qualify for senior navigation posts.

They will fly to Britain, the United States and into the north. The Psiar flights will give them practical experience in far northern flying. "a task requiring special techniques to overcome navigational prob- lems peculiar to Arctic re- gions."
