Tae annual entertainment for the pure pose of raising part of the Ministers salary, was held in Pownal Hall on the 29th ult. The hall was crowded. The singing, reading,recitations and speeches were good, and the nice little sum of $70 was realized. The people of Powaal circuit are determin- ed to make theie deservedly popular minister and family comfortable and happy. They have added a neat and roomy kitchen to the Parsonage, aid made quite «x'ensive repairs on the main building, making 1t warm and comfortable—the whole costing abou* $130, We understand there is only about £40 due on the whole transaction, which is very creditabie, considering that the church was beautified aud improved to the extent of $100 during the past summer, They intend to pay off the little debt by a course of lee ures, which will, we feel as- sured, be both profitable and instructive, and we hope will be largely patronized.— Com.

Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court is to-day engaged in hearing argument in case McFarlane vs. McKianon. The case was tried last June, with a verdict for the defendant. The present application is made to set aside this verdict and for a new trial.
