A Serious Loss.—On Sunday morning last, Mr. James Dorsey took his valuable three- year-old Jersey cow out of the stable co show her to some friends, throwing one or two hands- full of oats in a tub for her to eat. She took a mouthful and began eating, but hardly had she swallowed it when she showed symptoms of choking. Mr. Dorsey at once gave her some water, which she easily drank, but the oats had got into her windpipe, and in less than five minutes she was dead. Mr. Dorsey, we understand, refused $75 for her a few days previous to her death.

Among the passengers by the steamer to Point du Chene this torenoon was Dugald 8. Hunt, Esq., of Darnley, who is on his way to the Great West. He will probably stay at Schuyler, Colfax County, Nebraska, and at Denver, proceeding thence to British Colum- bia. Mr. Hunt has been an energetic, capable and in every way useful member of our com- munity, and we wish him prosperity where- ever he may go.

The St. John Sun reports that on ee afternoon all that was mortal of Jacob Brad- shaw was interred at St. Martins. Mr. Brad- shaw died in Hampton on Wednesday last vt the age of 95 years. Mr. Bradshaw, for a number of years, was engaged in the ship- building business, and he was a part owner in a number of vessels. About ten years ago Mr. Bradshaw retired from active business and took up his residence at Hampton Village. The deceased gentleman was a very liberal contributor to the Baptist church.
