Five minutes elapsed between the pre~ paration and starting guos, andthe man- oeuvering for position was a pretty sight The Kingfisher, Veda, and Flirt go! over the Jine first, the others were bunched pretty well together and the Jubilee and Stranger brought up the rear. There was a splendid sailing breeze from the north west, and the boats went down to the asylum buoy in quick time. The course was the same as in the last race— twice around the harbor course. The Flirt quickly took the jead and when starting Ou the second round was a little over @ minute ahead of the Report—the

winner in many a previous contest. Tae race between these two boats was very close all through as was also the race between the Kescue and Stranger. On

the first round the Rescue was third bu she was closely pressed by the latter boat. At the end of the first round the Pathfinder which had ber topmast broken wae fifth cod the Veda was sixth. Thetug Neleon accompanied the boats around, having on board the judges and a number of interested in watching the race.
