Late Orders Said Cause Of Cool Shortage

NORTH SYDNEY, N. S. (CPI— Failure of Newfoundland coal

dealers to place their orders early caused the delay L1 coal ship- ments from here, a ranking official of the Coal Company said Monday. He was commenting on a re- port that scores of Newfoundland outports face a severe] coal short- age this winter because of Dosco’ inability to meet the lemand.

Maritime coal dealers wanit coal processed through the Sydney Mines w-ash plant, but the capa- city of the wash plant is not suf- ficient to meet the peak demand during October and November."

He said Dosco took steps to prevent a coal shortage in New- foundland by banking 94,000 tons of goal.
