NEW YORK tAPi __ No doubt there are millions oi‘ persons to- day who are worried about the stock market. They likely are talking to themselves or their friends and neighbors saying: seems if every time i buy a stock It goes down.

There are two things they have lost sight of: Nothing continues to go up all the time. not even Sput- nik: and how high is high; how low is low.

These are times when the ama- teur Investor gets hurt and con- cerned

You buy stocks for two rea- sons: To make a profit by sell- ping higher or as an investment. Almost any stock you bought be- ginning four years ago and right iﬂ to last July went up. Many people with a paper profit of 81. $5 or $10 a share were apt to ask: How long has this been go-' ing on? I'll hold and make $100 a share.

Do they? Very rarely. in the nature of things. the longer they hold the more chances they take of not making any Profit at all. In other words. if you are in the market to make a quick buck, don't go to bed with a paper pro- fit. Put it in your pocket.

BLUE CHIP! SAFE

Investment in stocks? well. if you have the prime blue chips there is not much to worry about.

However, if you are holding what Wall Street fondly refers to \I growth stocks. there can be some cause for concern. These issues that take on a glow from the incursions into new field: of scientific achievement.‘
