To request the Federal Government to report on the pro- gress of the proposed Borden-Tormentine CAUSEWAY and to continue to c with the Federal Government in every way in order that the CAUSEWAY shall quickly be- come a reality.

The D of Agriculture, to establish a Marketing Division, which will include a research and survey depart- ment for the purpose of analyzing existing markets, seeking new markets and exploring new marketing techniques. EDUCATION

Larger School Units will be promoted by special grants of assistance: and new legislation will be enacted to encour- age their formation.

Further substantial equalization grants will be made. This money will primarily be used to pay Teachers’ Supplements in needy school districts and also to provide a more uniform level of School Services throughout the Province.

Further steps will be taken to encourage the removal of the higher grades from one and two room schools, and to ac- commodate those grades in central high schools.

" Additional courses will be provided at the Vocational

School, and efforts will be made to take vocational short

courses into rural areas. Commerce courses will be added

in central high schools where practical.

Continued efforts will be made to raise the academic and -

professional standards of our teachers, and further encour- agement given to young people to enter the teaching pro- fession:

Larger grants to school districts to encourage perman- ent fire-proof construction where new schools are required.

Greater efforts t6 cope with the problems of special ed- ucation with particular reference fo slow learners and the mentally retarded.

Efforts to further promote the effectiveness of the school supervisory service.

A thorough study will be made by the Government of the findings of the LaZerte Commission on school finances. Our school law will be modernized by a revision of the School Act.
