The following report by the man- aging director Mr. J. G. Dennis was given at the annual meeting on July 10 oi the P. E. I. Credit Union League Limited.

The fiscal year from July 1, i946 to May 31. 1947 has been one of the busiest years your league has ever had. Credit Union business has become big business; your oi‘- iire at 202 Queen Street has be- come a center oi information. coun- lel and organization.

Organization

There were no credit unions organized during the past year HOWEVEI’ plans are help;- laid 1;; hring the credit union movement to the attention o! a qreater num- ber oi people in Charlottetovm, where there is a large potential membership. Organizational work has already been carried on in one district where we hope that a new credit union will be charter- ed within the next month. lt is lo be regretted. however, that we shall be obliged to close out one credit union shortly because oi its i inactivity. -

According to the Annual Report ‘of Credit Unions for the year end- ing September 3i). i946. new mem- ' hers added during the year hum-f bored i414; the number with- drawn during the year amounted to 630 leaving a net increase in membership of ‘r64.

Our membership drive this year gave us better results in the num- her oi new members obtained. Thirty-nine credit unions answer- ed our inquiries on the results of

‘the drive whereas only twenty- lone credit unions answered inquir- ies the previous year. I l believe this drive could easily have been increased by another liour or five hundred members if we and the officers oi the credit unions had really done a job on it. Half oi the thirty-nine credit un- ions reporting did not get ove iour new members.
