B., May 22.—Mr. Thomas Harrison, of St Mary’e, near here, suffered, as was reported some time ago, with most alarming and distressing symp- toma of some disease which the doctor’s conldn’t fathom Severe paine in the back kept him in acontinuel torture, He was overpowered by adull listlesness and was growing worse daily. Finally he reached such an alarming stage as to void blood in the urine. Tt wae here that « friend suggested that Mr. Harrison was suffering from bladder trouble. As com- plaints of the bladder are invariably caus~ ed by defective kidneys the friend advised him to take Dodd’s Kidney Pills. He did so. He had but finished the first box when a large stone was passed and the dangerous symptoms at once ceased. By continuing the use of the pilla to the extent of two more boxes, Mr. Harrison was cured com- pletely and he has not ceased to praise Dodd’s Kidney Pills since. If the doctors hed euspected stonein the bladder the operating tablewculd have been resorted to. Lourpes, France, May 20.—The annual pilgrimage tothe Sbrine of Our Lady of Lourdes is new at beight. Fully 40,000 eufferere and thsir atrendants are quartered there. The town is crowded to ite utmest capacity. Over 5,000 arrived in one dey from Paris alone. When the epecial trains, bearnng their burdens of sorrow, woe and misery, arrived at the station, the scenes were bheartrendivg Some of these peorer sufferers painfully dragged themselves along the road toward the hospital on foot. Those unable to walk were carried on mattresses by friends and relatives, to the quarters assigned them. It wasa pandemonium of woe

Some pathetic scenes were witnessed, One young woman, scarcely out of her teens, slowly and painfully hobbled from atrain. Death was written in her wan face and wasted figure. A blue: bloused porter tenderly helped her from the station platform and into 4 carry~all, where she sank exhausted and died before reaching the grotto.

Wasted forms, withered arms and legs, devoured faces, deformed bodies, abound- edon all sides. Amid all thie misery, however, shone the star of pure faith—a light that brought the multitude to pray in the grotto and bathe ia the pool.
