NEW GLASGOW W.M.S.

The Auxiliary of the W.M.S. of the United Church, New Glasgow, met at the home of Mrs. Gordon Laird for the October meeting. Miss Ella Semple led the devo- tional period using the theme. “Now Thank We All Our God." Prayer of thanksgiving fn unison. Passages of scripture by several members. Hymns sung were "Come, Ye Thankful People, Come", "O God of Bethel", "For the Beauty of the Earth". “Be- fore Jehovah's Awful Throne" 'with Mrs. George Dickieson as organist. The president. Mrs. Mc- Leod, conducted the business per- iod. Minutes‘ of previous meeting read, and accepted as same. Roll call answered by 13 members, two associate membeis and six visitors. The friendship secretary reported she had sent six cards and receiv- ed four replies of thanks. During the past month 26 calls were made in homes, and six in hospital, and flowers were sent to shutins. Mrs. W. J. McLeod and Mrs. Gough led in the study period and was

A meeting of the Ladies‘ Aid fol- lowed which was presided over by Mia Elsie Laird. Minutes were read and roll call answered by 15 memlbers. It was decided to have an auction at next meeting. Hymn. “What a Friend We Have In Jesus" was sung. The box for Labrador was to be packed at the home of Mrs. Melvin McLeod. A delicious lunch was enjoyed by all.

On Wednesday evening Nov, 2nd the Bonahaw Baptist W.M.S. met together with the Clyde River Baptist W.M.S. at the home of Mrs. Warren Inman, Hampton. The president, Mrs. Russell Boyce pre- sided and opened the meeting by the singing of “I am thine 0 Lord". Responsive Scripture read- ing was from first chsipter of John. after which Mrs. Ernest Holm led in prayer. Minutes of last meeting were read and ap- proved. Roll call was answered with a verse of scripture contain- the word "Remember", The study book "Baptist Beginnings in Western Canada" was presented by Mrs. R. Boyce, Mrs. E. Holm, Mrs. J. McEachern and Mrs, W. Inman. Mr. George Carson very kindly favored the meeting with the well-rendered solo "Child of the King". Recitatlons, suitably arranged, were given by Mrs. Eu- win Boyce, Mrs. James Gordon, Mrs. Jack McEachern and Mrs. W.W. Inman. The December mect- ing is to be held at the home of Mrs EC. Holm.
