Income Tax . Not Changing
“The government has absol- utely no intention of raising in- come taxes next year." Provin- cial Treasurer Melvin McQuald said yesterday.
He was asked to comment on a suggestion by a newspaper reader appearing in a column in The Evening Patriot Wed- nesday. It was suggested that in- come taxes might be raised in order to get additional income to finance the province’s hospi- tal insurance plan now that the promise has been made to abol- ish the premium system.
