Tue Government Commissivners to en- quire in the Herring Fishing Industry make the following extracts from tbe report of Inspector Duvar, of Alberton, for 1887:—

‘*‘Actual proof has this year been obtain- ed, of the correctness of an impression which I have frequently expressed in re- ports and otherwise, that the coasts of Prince Edward Island might be made the seat of an extensive fall fishery.”

The Governments of the herring fishing nations of Europe, Britain, Holland, Novr- way, Sweden and France has spent large sums of money in developing and encoursg-
