Because oi the increased activities at this Yuletide Season on the part or both canvassers and Island citizens who are interested in this worthy cause. many people have not been contactgd and Mr. Rogers expressed the hope that these ciitzens will pause for a moment in the hiistlc-and-bustle of Christmas shopping to mail their donations to campaign head- quarters at 166 Great George Srteet, Charlottetown. "The many important services of the In- stitute must continue to be avail- able to Prince Edward Island's more than 150 blind.” said the campaign chairman. “and these services depend upon the financial support of the general pulbllc."

This will enable the fans to follow the horse from one end OI the track to the other. I was very sorry that my good friends Curley Bevan and Jimmie Power did not buy horses at the sale. However, my doctor insists that I go south for the winter and I will be leav- ing Gaspe on January 4th. I will give you my new address later. I can walk fairly well now snd am gaining in strength but I find the cold weather hard to take, I ex- pect to return in June to the man- agement of the bank. We had a fairly successful racing lesson here, fhe track opened four years ago and our present financial standing ls good. Last spring A.W. Patterson purchased Mr. Philip 2.09 from A. Napke, Chathsm, N. B. and eapalbly handled by Rollo Scott, Campbeilton. he paced to numerous firsts. Our track is 95 feet over the mile and Mr. Philfi) paced the last heat of the season in 2.12 which would equal 2.08 over a fast track.

Ed Shirley of Bathuret drove our troiter Elwin Guy in the same race and while he was not out in front. having raced three heats the pre- vious dlay, he was in the money. We have had four offers for him from parties who want to race him over the ice. He can break away very fast and can take the turns with the best of paccrs. I understand that James Watt of Chandler, P.Q. has sold both Doc B. Gralrian and Calumet Compton to parties in the Maritlms-s, This leaves him witih only Barkus, but I understand he is after new blood. Elias Jones of Chandler has Sold his faithful pacer Lon" Ace. It is doubtful if he will over rat" again. Allen Dale 2.09. that Davr Duguay of Paibos purchased last spring. had s good season and rac- ed well. Barkus, by the way. is a fast pacer but he had an accident last spring in training and did not show his usual speed until the late fall meet.

We have two fine looking three year oids. one a mare, Laurie Scott -— the Scott taken from her trainer, Rollie Scott. She is out of Harlet T.. previously owned by Dr. McLean of New Rzchmond. Laurie is sired by Laurel Hanover 1.59% and is owned by Davis & LeBoutillier. The other colt is Sandy Van by Mr. Van. He is a three year old stallion owned by George Sheehan of Cape Cove This colt is a trotter and shows a lot of speed. Our September meet for lfhe past three years was held in conjunction with a general stock, poultry and vegetable fair. This season it was a grand suc- cess with the vegetables display as good as I have ever seen any- where. and great interest taken iri pure bred cattle from the outly- ing districts. Somewhrre along the way south I will drop you a line and will be looking forward to going back to P. E. l. next summer and sitting on the grand stand again watching the night mces."
