Navy Team ’s Measure 8-2

Taking advantage of errors and walks and then coming y blows in the first four innings of the game Officers last night beat Navy 8-2 in the opening game of the semi-final series of the Cit Softball League.

The irst four innings told the story of the outcome. Navy nfter settling down after their shaky start matched the ivinners play in a star studded contest that produced sparkling play after play with the last five innings of the game being a scoreless battle between two evenly matched teams.

It was easily the best played game of the season. Raynor's bril- lisnt stop of a terrifically hit ground ball in the first inning was the first highlight. Brilliant run- nlng catches by McDonald and Junop. outer gardeners of the N were other masterpieces Goodalels stab of a backward catch in the seventh twenty feet behind first base retired the Navy in that frame.

But the real masterpiece of them all came in the last of the ninth joying a banner season. lifaiiy familiar faces are missing but both clubs have added new meni- bers who are coming along in great

From then on the fans were treated to a great~ex- hibitlon of softball. Navy tried desperately hard; with one out in the last of the fourth they put two - on with two successive walks b Brown; the next man struck out to ease the uprising somewhat but Williams drew the third walk of the inning to load the sacks.
