GENERAL MANAGER VANHORNE, of the Ca nadian Pacific Railway, states that the whole of the line nerth of Lake Superior will be usder contract by January Ist, 1883. Sur- veyors are now out, and before long esti- mates and measurements as to the rock cutting and filling will be got ready. Next season work on the western division will be completed to the Reckies.

DIED.

At North Lake, on Sunday wmorning, 30th July last, at the advanced age of 76 vears, Mary, beloved wife of Mr. John McInnis. Deceased wasa native of Cape Breton, and early in life removed with a number of relations to Tracadie, P. KE. Island. She leaves a sorrowing and aged husband with a large family, as well as numerous friends and ac- quaintanees to mourn the loss of a christian spouse, an affectionate mother, and a kind and generous neighbor. Her remains were followed to Saint Columbia Chapel by a large numer of people, where a solemn Requiem High Mass was sung, and the last rites of the Roman Catholic Church performed by the Rev. D. J. Giilie.—May her soul rest in Peace.
