class. Rumour has it that alcohol was involved. One prof was heard to remark, "I didn’t know there were a this many music majors." Even the registrar could not explain the turn of events. Some felt the appearance of Condom, one of the greatest Vikings who ever lived (and also a pretty swell guy), may have influenced those affected.

The pub had started out innocently enough, with short appearances by one faculty member and the university president (who is said to have arrived two hours early on Friday morning). But it was shortly after the arrival of Condom when a quiet night turned into a party. Where’s Dave? rocked, people

flocked, and elbows bent so fast that it was expected —

there would be several outbreaks of tendonitis before morning.

Friday morning’s events will remain a mystery. It is suggested that everyone keep their eyes peeled for Condom and to report and appearances to the Music Society from happening again. Thanks to all who contributed to making the pub a success. Over $300 was raised for our scholarship fund and we are hoping to have another next semester (the professors seem especially keen about this). Thanks to those who came out. We hope you had as much fun as we did.

The UPEI Music Society will be hosting its 3rd Annual Playathon from November 16 at 1:00 PM to Nov. 17, 1:00 PM. The Playathon will feature all UPEI’s music students in a number of ensemble and solo performances for 24 straight hours. Everyone is invited to come take in some music, and there is a special invitation to all societies to prepare an act or two or more and come participate in the fun. To register contact any of the music society executive at 368-9765 or drop ‘by Steel. Ask for Kevin, Christie, Jacqueline, Eric, or Dale. See ya there!

Plans for an eventful semester are in place as the UPEI English Society gathers steam. Anyone who is interested in joining the Society can attend our weekly meetings on Mondays at 3 in the English Lounge. We are currently a group of about twenty and are looking for the rest of the interesting English students who have yet to surface.

A party was held on October 12 at my place and went over really well, as did some of the people who drank a little excessively. Many issues were discussed and as soon as we have another party we'll be able to piece together what happened at the last one. Actually it was a low-key affair and a great way to get to know the people who you share classrooms with. Thanks to all who made it out to my house and for persevering in the quest to answer the question: “Where the heck is Pisquid?"

For any and all students interested in poetry, the English Society is hosting a reading of students’ poetry on Wednesday, October 24, at 3.00PM in the English Lounge. We are looking for writers who

are willing to read their work and if you are

interested then you can leave your name in the Lounge (2nd floor main) or just show up on the 24th. Feel free to bring food or friends and enjoy the creative talents of those adventurous enough to read their poems. You'll hear more about this in your English classes.

Anyone thinking of joining the Society should decide soon as we will be ordering T-shirts, the design for which will be decided upon this week.

As a final note, we are porbably going to go to the Prince Edward Cinema this Sunday, the 21st, to see a movie called My Left Foot. More about this and other ideas at our meetings.
