Mr McKrx tay, well known street preacher, met with a serious accident this morning. While at the dry goods atore of Mr. A. B. Me- Kenzie he became engaged in argument. On scoring point he as usual turned upon his heel, but this time slipped, and fell and broke his ankle. He was given in charge of Dr. McKay, who set the limb immediately. Mr. McKinley is doing as well aa can be expected under the circumstances.

Tue Court of Appeal has affirmed the deci- sion of the Lower Court in the case of the city of Brooklyn against fifseen aldermen and ex- aldermen accused of overriding Mayor Howell's veto of a resolution enlarging the franchise of the Brvoklyn Elevated Railway. This makes it necessary for the accused to go to jail, Their terms are from seven to thirty days,

ANOTHER disaster with losa of life is re- ported as having occurred on Lake Ontario during a severe gale on Saturday night. The news was received from Picton, Oat. The vessel was the schvoner ‘* Harry Folger,” bound from Cleveland, Ohio, to Brockville, Ont. She went ashore near Picton, and became a total loss All on board—the captain and crew of eight men — were drowned.

It is expected that Healy will be served with a writ on Monday. The writ against Davitt is founded on his speech at Navan, last Sun- day. He is required to appear in a Court of Queen’s Bench on Tuesday. Davitt says he will appear and defend himself in person, and not by counsel. He will prob- ably decline to enter into recognizinces for good behavior, preferring to go to prison. Healy only arrived at Dublin at ten o’clock on Saturday night. Lonvon, Dee. 3.
