As pioneers in Seed Wheat importa- tion and the largest dealers in this arti- cle ever since 1882, we may be permit- ted to say a few words on this subject. We believe that the use of imported wheat has largely increased the crop in this Province in the past years, although superior cultivation has materially as- sisted, and we furtber think that the cemparative disuse of imported seed the past two years, together with the verv extensive use of the White Chaff variety, (of which for many years scarce- ly any has been imported) bas caused tne blight of the past season to be much worse than it would otherwise have been. We do not think, however, that any grain known, imported or otherwise, could bave entirely escaped the blight of the past season, andthe light crops should not be considered as evidence of exhaustion in the seed stock generally of this Province.

The season was exceptional and the

conditions were such that rust could not fail to develop. Those corditions were fogs, heavy dews, calm weather and a sidieg sun, and the results

were rust and blight, on both osts and
