Make Higher Education More Widely Available, Is Plea

O’I'DAWA (CP)—A. D. D‘unton, president of Carleton University, says he believes Canada needs to put a greater ﬁraction of the national income into making higher education more widely available.

“I believe that further freeing if the ways to higher knowledge and growth of mind is vital to the future of Canada.” he said Friday in an address at his in» stallation as Carleton’s president.

His statements were included in the text of his address issued to the press before delivery.

be built on part of the site of the '

Windsor Hotel in mid-town Mont- real, it was announced Thursday.

The structure will replace the older section of the hotel. The re- mainder of the hotel is to be reno- vated.

The building is to be under- taken by the Canadian Bank of Commerce in conjunction with Maxwell Cummings and Sons.

The development is to be known as the Windsor Plaza. Estimated cost of the whole development is $45,000,000. Estimated cost of the Canadian Bank of Commerce building is $22,000.000. '

A modern shopping plaza. is also to be erected adjacent to the bank building.

It is understood the bank’s in- terest is confined to the bank building and that the remainder of the project is to be developed by Maxwell Cummings and Sons and their associates.
