Home For Buriat.—Mr. Perry, for many years postmaster at Tigoish, died in Cheleco, Mase., laci week, at the ripe age of 78. Bis body was brought to Charlotte- town on Saturday, and was this worving forwarded to Tignieh where it will be in- terred tomorrow. The deceased was a brother ef the late Mr.S.F. Perry, M. P.,and was well and favorably known.

Dear Farner :—I am writing this letter on the train. Our boys are now about 300 miles from Cape Town, aud have now re- ceived ordere to neithercheer or make any neediess noise as the country swarms with disloyalty. We passed two trains contain- ing wounded solaiers from Modder River batcile, 500 in all.

We did not get into Cape Town until 8 p. m. Stores were closed, and we were unable to send papers. Our valices, kite, and bags are jeft hehind, we are bound for Kimberley, but consider that the Boers are about wtiled there. However, if we gel a Cbance we are game. Guards are placed all along the Jine. Bridges are strongly guarded. Cacti grow wild, and many wild flhwers. The country here is dotted with many huge uo ountains.

Co!. Otter has received as private dona- tione enough to feed his 1000 without Government rations, We are all joily as though we were on a picnic. We will all get medals as momentos. All are dreesed in Khaki suite; my pants are Canadian and my coat English make. We do not know where Buller 1s. There has been no such thing as picking our comrades as we are all friendly alike, and will always be. [ heave had no place to stow away curios yet.

Ammerst’s Sexsation.—A man named Thomas Moore, for mavy years a stalion- agent of the I. C. R., 1s under arrest at Amherst, charged with dealing in counter- feit notes. The arrest has caueed a great sensation. It is alleged that Moore was connected with Chisholm and the others recently convieted of coun- terfeiting operations.

Mr, Berrigan had reached the ripe age of 84 years, and throughout his life exjayed the confidence and esteem of all by whom he was known. It appears that the young man, who is a native of Prinse Edward Island, ia not alone the only sos, but the only child of a widowed mother, and when she learaed that her boy, who is a third year student at MeGiil University, had joined the second contingent, appeal- ed to him by telegraph to remain at home and eostinue bis studies, so that no doubt he might be a cemfovt toher in her de- clining years. After the yeusg man told his stery and was given the opportunity, he reluctantly decided to remain at bome, although it was pet without a great sacrifice on his part,as he was ove of the most enthusiastic of the Montreal group.
