On the occasion ef a lecture delivered before a large and appreciative audience, in Windsor Hall, Montreal, in honor of the Father Mathew Anniversary, Rev. J. A. McCallen, S. S., of St Patrick’s Church, without any solicitation or even knowledge on my part, paid the following grand tribute to the value of Mr. A. Hutton Dixon's medicine for the cure of the alcoho) and drug habits.
Refering to the PHYSICAL CRAVE en- gendered by the inordinate use of mtoxicants he said: When such a.crave manifests itself, : there is no escape, unless by a miracle of grace or by some such remedy as Mr. Dixan’s Cure © about which the papers have speken so much lately. Acciprenr YesteRDAY.— Yesterday after - noon about balf-past tive o’clock as Mr. Charles MeGregor, the well-known con- tractor, und two of his workmen, Mesere, Fred Evans and Nathanie] Smith, were at work shingling the roof of a house oo Weymouth Sireet ocenpied by Mr. 8. precipitated to the ground. A arn in tne vicinity broke the fall of Mesare. McGregor and wane;
but Mr. Smith fell the entire distance and his bead strack the ground with force. He wae picked up as quickly as possible and earri d to the res.dence of Mr. M. J§ Moren near &y where all that could be done for him was done, Drs. 8. R. Jenkius and H..D. Johnson were soe on the scene, and about half an hour later the injured man was removed to the Prince Kdward Island Hospital. He was suffering trom several. scalp wounds, and was im an uncosécious condition until a late bear last night. Today he is reported doing as wellas can be expected. Mr. McGregor did not sustain any injuries. Mr. Evens’ ankle is somewhat injured.
