Casey At Bat

THE NEW York Mets of the National baseball league have re-hit-ed Casey Stench to manage title cellar dWelling Meta for the 1965 season. The New York Yankees. retired Stangei in 1960. with Casey fighting the move. until the bitter end. M..iiey was no consideration in Stooge-1's fight to remain in big league baseball. when the Yanks wanted to retire him. because Stengel is a millionaire. Performance was certainly not a consideration in the minds of the Yank‘s management because under Casey's leadership the Yankees nailed down ten pennants and captured seven world championships in twelve years. The whole thing was that the Yanks Just felt Casey was too old to stand up to he job.

Casey promptly took a job as manager of the Meta of the National League and attempted to rebuild the lowly Mets. Casey has not yet been able to get the Meta off the titular. but he has captured the interest of the New York baseball fans. The Mets had a better attendence record yast year then

The initial meeting of the Charlottetown Minor Hockey Association was held at the Can- adian Legion last night when 1‘ small but enthusiastic group met to formulate plans for the forthcoming 1964-65 minor hoc key season.

Presided over by president Ivan Doherty. reports w err. heard from members of the es ecutive and division chairmen that pointed up the overall suc- cess of the past year’s minor hockey season.

Presenting the final financial statement to the meeting, some lacy Don Hutchinson pointed out that the association was able to show a credit balance of $273.20 as of September 30. 1964. which was most heartily endorsed un- animously by the meeting.

A number of constructive changes and recommendation. were also presented to the meet ing. these to be passed over to the incoming executive for ac tion. -
