This summer Massey-Harris- Ferguson made a survey of the stock available. It was found that the beef cattle population in the Baritimes is small. but can be built up over a number of years. There is a good mar- ket in central Canada. Mr. Crawford said, where buyers are prepared to pay top prices.

He added: “There is no doubt about it. Beef cattle raising can become big business in the Miaritimes. The long-term mar- ket exists in central Canada. the Maritimes have the rich grass- lands, and all that. is needed is the willingness to go ahead."

Assault Charge ls Dismissed By Magistrate

SUMMERSIDE — A charge of assault against a resident of Freeland was dismissed in Mag- istrate‘s Court here yesterday morning after the evidence of the plaintiff was heard.

The plaintiff. a resident of Conway. testified he had gone to the store of the accused last Sunday afternoon to purchase cigarets and six bottles of or-

He said he didn't remember much about what happened any- way. as he was highly intoxica- ted.

The charge was dismissed when the £onway man told the court he couldn't remember being assaulted, but stated he had a sore ear. neck and crack- ed ribs.

However. the accused will be changed with the illegal sale of orange extract but was not ask- ed to plead due to an amend ment to be made in the body on the charge.

A resident of Kelvin was fined $10 andcosts of $14.60 for driv- ing a motor vehicle without due care and attention. The charge arose from an accident on the Allen Road during the summer.

Town department officials were preparing Tuesday to start worn of constructing the new street. together with water and sewage facilities. for the development where the first buildings that Will be constructed will contain four to eight apartments. however. it is understood that following the construction of the first four or five buildings, future construction on the site will be one and two unit rental houses.

It is expected that the new housing units will be rented pri- marily to RCAF‘ personell whose numbers at the Summerside Sta. tion are expected to be. dou- bled with the conversion of Argus aircraft to this station. and the replacement of the Maritime ‘Training Squadron by an opera- tional squadron at the Summer- side air base.

The Baptist Men's meeting was held in the O'Leary Baptist Church hall on Monday evening. October 6th. Meeting opened with a hymn, scripture reading. lst John 5: 1-13. was read by New— ton Harrie. followed with prayer by Kentford Horne.

Rev. Ross Howard gave I very interesting talk on “The Place of Men in work of the Church". reports of different communities were heard from. A religious pamphlet and book display was shown emphasizing the importance of religious lit- erature in the home.

It was decided to invite the ladies to the next meeting and have a special film shown. to be arranged by Mr. Earle Jelley.

Meeting closed with hymn, “Are you washed in the Blood" and mizpah benediction. after

Plans were made to help with the Thanksgiving ser- vice to be held in the church Sun- day evening.
