is to exhibit in Charlettetown on Wednes- day and Thursday, is well spoken of by the Nova Scotia papers. The circus will be brought over here by the steamer M. A. Starr, and «a grand street parade will be given each day. The Wild West Show is one of the features of the Circus that is said to be most interesting. -
Severe Wasnovuts.—The Moncton Times reporta that the recent rainstorms have been very bad on the northern division of the 1. C. R. from Moncton to Camp! mn, and have done much damage. A bad washou tends from the southwest bridge nearly to Chatham Junction on the 1. C. R, and caused «a delay of nize hoars to the Quebec express yesterday morning. The express going west was also delayed at Chatham Junction about four hours. There are other washouts of lesser note, but the one first-mentioned will be a heavy loss to the railway. Heavy storms are sweeping over Spain and are doing an immense amount of dam- age. The rain is falling in torrents and is destroying the grape and vlive crops. Much damage has been done by the rivera over flowing their banks, and in some places the low country adjacent to the rivera resembles huge lakes ln Henesca, the Isuela river is out of its banks The fl.od has already crried away 30 houses, and it is fenred that further damage will be done.
The French have occupied the Glorioea island, situated north of Madagascar.

‘A TRRRIBLE ACCIDENT MAN KILLED.
Frepericron, Aug. 16.
At Morrison's mills yesterday the belt which runs to govern the engine came off, starting the machinery at a prodigious rate of speed. This burst the supping wheel, in which are set a number of knives for peel- ing bark off cedar logs. The knives flow in all directions. Craig, who was standing about ten feet from the wheel at the time, was struck in the hip with terrible force and hurled to the floor unconscious. Mc- Clusky and Ryder were also struck by some of the knives and painfully but not dangerously wounded. Craig diec.

A Fatal Dispute.
QueBec, Aug. 16. When the steamer Canous left Montreal the captain engaged two men named Roach and Taylor to accompany the cattle to Eng- land. A dispute arose as to wages and when off this city the men jumped over- board, and in an attempt to swim ashore Taylor was drowned.
