The deceased had been in fall- ing health for the past two months but still attended her household duties and the care of her aged husband and semi-invalid daugh- ter, gver doing for the comfort of her loved ones, never considering her own health. one -week previous to her death she became suddenly ill with "flu" and complications set in. and despite medical aid and tender nursing she passed away on the above mentioned date. A devoted wife and mother. her place in the home can never be filled. it is hard to part with those who are near and dear to us. Still we be- lieve that this is God's world. and being a God of love. will bring all things to work together for good. left to mourn besides her sorrow- ingihusband are four sons ad three daughters by a former ma - tinge; also one brother. Mr. An- drew Bryanton. sea. View, and two sisters, Mrs. Emma MacDonald. Freminghaxn, Mass., and Mrs. James Duggan. Sea View.

The funeral was held com St. Mark's Church. Kensington, on Wednesday. Aug. 80th at 2 RM. Services were conducted by Rov. S. J. Davies and Rev. J.A. Mc- Gowan. Rev. Mr. McGowan based his sermon on the 23rd Psalm. tak- ing as his text: the words. "rhuugh I walk through the valley at the Shadow" bringing an inspiring message. and 'ort to the her-. eaved. He also spoke in high terms or the deceased. Rev. Mr. Davies read the Scripture lesson and led in prayer. A mixed choir rendered sweetly three favorite hymns, "The Lord's My Shepherd", "Rock of Ages", and "Jesus Lover of My Soul" with Mrs. James Sheen at the organ. 'l'he floral tributes were

The sudden death of Mrs. Mich- ael Burke, Sr. occured at her home in Georgetown in the early morn- ing hours of Thursday. August 1'1. after a brief illness. In her ?2nd year. her passing came as a great shock to her many friends and rel- atives. A devout member of the Roman Catholic Faith. she was a prominent and active member of the Catholic Women's league. the Legion of Mary. me was- also a member of St. Jsrnes' Parish Cred- it Union. the Georgetown com- munity League.

She was the wife of a. First War veteran and mother of a veteran of the Second World War. She leaves to .mourn.yher sorrowing husband, one son Michael. Jr. Four daugh- ters. Mary. (Mrs. William Prosper) of P n. Josephin (Mrs. Henry De Veaux). of West Spring- field, Mass.. Catherine at home, and Florence (Mrs. Patric! Law- slaro). West Springfield, Mass.. Il- so four daughters: Julia, Anna. (Mrs. Fred Morrison). Veronica and Georgenia ,redeceased her several years ago. . ,

Also surviving her are nineteen grandchildren, four great grand- children.

The funeral was held from St. James' Church on Saturday. Aug. 19 at 9.00 A. M. Requiem 1-ligh Mass was celebrated by Rev. 0. Kiggins. Interment was in the church cemetay. The pallbearers were Patrick Murphy. Joseph John- son, Fabian Baudreault, Russel White. William Prosper and Gor- don Ross.
